Galiny Palace

The history of the landed estate in Galiny, in the northern part of the Warmia-Masuria Province, some 10 km from Bartoszyce, dates back to the middle ages. The first information about Galiny comes from the year 1336. The Great Master of the Order of the Teutonic Knights Heinrich Reuss von Plauen granted in 1846 lands situated in the region inhabited by the Galind tribe in exchange for services to the knight Wend Illebug from Saxony.

The palace and accompanying park is now privately owned. After renovation work started in 1995 aimed at restoring the lost splendour of the palace as well as the park, the entire complex regained its long lost magnificence. The palace, of which nearly every element required thorough renovation work, starting from the foundations, including the roofs, structural floors and plaster work, the replacement of all installations, ended in one of the best restored facilities of its kind in the nation.

The complex of buildings surrounding the courtyard, comprised of seven connected parts, namely: the entrance gate with the clock tower, coach house, stables, annex, orangery, palace corner building (adjacent) with a tower and the main palace building that is situated at the end of the axis, having its beginning next to the entrance gate. The entire layout from the sky has the shape of the letter U. The entrance gate that features the Eulenburg (owners of the property until 1945) family emblem in addition to the clock and tower leads us into the courtyard and driveway surrounding the central part of the square, filled with dark red roses.

In the buildings adjacent to the gates, once functioning as the coach house and stables, the interiors have been completely restored and their design directly alludes to the historical style in which the palace was originally furnished. Adjacent to the coach house is the orangery, possessing a direct exit to the courtyard, while sunlight filtering through its glass wall dances among the elegant interior, creating unique visual effects.

Renovation work continues in both in the interiors of the annex building as well as the main and palace corner building. Equally strenuous restoration efforts are underway aiming to adapt the palace building basements.

Rooms

Carefully restored, the pension house features romantically furnished 1, 2 and 4 person rooms as well as apartments. We also have two rooms suited to the physically challenged. The rooms combine a warm atmosphere of traditional interiors and rustic nature. The wooden furniture, large sunny windows and interior lighting make the pension house interior cosy and romantic.

Each room features satellite TV, telephone and internet connections making it easy for guests to keep up with domestic and foreign news. You can spend nights in comfortable beds covered with delicate bedding specially designed and built for our pension house.

Each room has its own colour combination. Each room has a well furnished private bath, ensuring the highest level of comfort for our guests. Additionally, a family offer is available that features two rooms with a common bath. An additional child’s bed is available upon request.

The Park

Today, just as in the past, you can admire the beauty of plants, or rest by a pond that was restored by building a series of dams on the Pisa River, comprising the landscaped nature of the site.

On one of the ponds there are two islands. A pier was built next to one making it easy to land by boat and rest in a summer house surrounded by numerous vines.

The pond and river are not the only water elements; there are also small ponds, a stream and enchanting cascade. Among the numerous garden interiors, there is a natural part, only marginally shaped by human intervention. In the centre of the courtyard, an element closely associated with the palace, there is a bed of dark red roses. Modern solutions, such as the water power plant combine to form a harmonious effect with stylized elements.

The lie of the land contributed to the creation of both cosy places, offering seclusion from the world at large, as well as those where you can rest with friends around a bonfire. Throughout the park area you can happen upon exceptional elements of small architecture, such as paths leading you to exceptional nooks in the park. All these elements delightfully contribute to leisure time. Each garden interior possesses a different theme.

Galiny Inn

Our Inn offers guests Polish and European dishes as well as baked specialties from the wood fired oven, whose taste and smell you will long remember. Excellent food, home style atmosphere and the sparkle of wood burning in the fireplace leaves guests with unforgettable moments.

Warmth emanates from the interior of our two story Inn, coming directly from the huge fireplace that comprises one of the main elements of the design. On the other hand, in the summer we open a terrace located along a rural garden among the gurgling of water and fragrant flowers where guests can rest in the open air.

Our calling card is also a superbly equipped bar. We also possess conferences rooms that can accommodate 200 persons and a smaller banquet room that can handle up to 30 guests.

Recreation

We invite you to attend our riding school at the riding centre next to the Galiny Stables featuring qualified instructors. Our school is suited both for beginners and advanced riders alike, as well as for those who’ve never had the chance to be around horses. We possess outdoor and indoor arenas.

We also offer trail rides that can take place in the saddle or in a carriage. Such trips will take you through meadows and forest trails winding around Galiny with beautiful views on the banks of the Pisa River. In the winter you can spend unforgettable moments in sleigh rides. We also extend an open invitation to everyone interested in riding competitions, horse exhibitions, foal championships and other events organised by our club.
